Setting the Mood: Why I Autumn….

By |September 12th, 2011|Setting the Mood|

I’m really getting into the autumnal swing of things… even though fall doesn’t officially start until September 23rd this year.  If you want to get all technical, we still have another week and a half of summer left.  To me, fall symbolizes quality time spent with family and friends.  There’s nothing I like more than getting cozy with a group of friends for a rousing game night complete with warm cocktails and yummy comfort food.  This is the perfect occasion for a soft, fuzzy blouse, snuggly scarf, and killer boots.  Just because you’re staying in, doesn’t mean you have to dress down.

Setting the Mood: Black or White

By |August 25th, 2011|Setting the Mood|

I always say that most things in life are incredibly black and white. I don’t really like dancing around in the grey area. In my experience, that leads to nothing but trouble. There’s something so magical about black and white photos. The playing of shadows against the subject. The contrast. Sucking out the colors to nothing but black and white can take your average photo from amateur to amazing. The same can be said about your clothing as well. While some might associate black and white with waiter wear, I think wearing something so simple conveys confidence and understated glamour.

Just a perfect examples of how opposites complement each other.

Setting the Mood: True Blood (Red)

By |August 16th, 2011|Setting the Mood|

Alright, well I don’t watch True Blood or Twilight or any of the other 35,000 shows about vampires, but all that blood leaves me seeing red– in a good way. There is nothing more sexy or chic than a really saturated red. You may opt to deck yourself out in the hot hue, or just punch up some neutrals with a pop or crimson. Even just a red lip can add a little something to the average outfit. I can’t wait to pick out the perfect shade of red to lacquer up my fingers and toes. There is just something about a little bit of red that can get you all fired up. Vampires or not.
