Setting the Mood: Cake, Cake, Cake, Cake
Written by: WhyDid | Setting the Mood

birthday inspiration boardI love birthdays.  Sure, we share our birthdays with approximately 19 million other people (except for you leap year babies, you’re special), but it certainly is nice to have a day dedicated especially to you.  This is a great time to kick up your heels and get wild with a raucous crew or take a personal day to pamper yourself and maybe spend some time alone.  Whatever your cup of tea may be, there’s nothing wrong with celebrating yourself– just not in a Stassi Schroeder type of way.  I suggest spending at least fifteen minutes of completely quiet time reflecting on your year and being thankful for making it through.  Then pop open a bottle of champagne and do whatever the hell you want… it’s your birthday afterall!  In case you haven’t guessed, today is my special day and in case it slipped your mind and you forgot to purchase something sweet for me, you really can’t go wrong with anything cashmere, diamond clad or lacy… I won’t even be mad it’s late.

Friday Frocks: Shiny Disco Balls

toasting at midnight

2012 is just about over… and I can’t pretend I’m sad about it.  To say it wasn’t my best year on record would be a minor massive understatement.  That said, I am really looking forward to bidding this year adieu.  Doing so will, of course, require a festive frock.  Last year I provided the alternative to a sequin stunner, but who am I kidding?  I love shiny things.  (I also love miniature horses and champagne cocktails).  Give me a reason to add glitter and I’ll gladly take you up on it.  New Year’s Eve is the perfect occasion to shine, so dust off those paillettes and party hats, the countdown to midnight has begun.

Why Did You Eat That: Cheers to Kirs!

Now that we are through cheersing all the celebs, it’s time to celebrate someone else.  Someone you might know.  Someone like… ME!  It is officially my “birthday week” and I’m ready to put on my party shoes only to kick them right back off.  Other than a killer outfit and some fun friends to celebrate with, a girl has got to have a signature cocktail.  Luckily for me, I have one made… just for me.

Alright, alright… so maybe this cocktail wasn’t made “especially” for me, but I like to pretend that it was.  This pretty pink drink has several variations- each one delicious, bubbly, and sweet (like me).  Below are the recipes for a classic kir, kir royale, and kir imperial.  Enjoy and celebrate with me!

Cheers (to me).
