Perhaps my swimsuit guide was a bit presumptuous as we are a week into spring and only a few days away from April and yet I’m still swaddled in cashmere scarves and slouchy beanies. As a matter of fact, it flurried the other night on my way crosstown. So, if you, like me, jumped the gun and can’t wait to wear your new suit, try using a one piece as a body suit much like the look I’ve created from ModCloth below.

Setting the Mood: Just Another Day at the Beach

I’m not quite sure where the phrase, “Life’s a beach.” came from, but I am quite certain if that were the case, people would be a whole lot happier. Whether it be the white sandy beaches off the Gulf Coast of Florida or the majestic rocky points in Half Moon Bay, the beach is one of those things that’s just so beautiful no man could have made it. Most people have fond memories from time spent by the sea. I know I do. (Well, except that incident with a dragonfly in Daytona). We spent our summers there, took family vacations there, and some who are very lucky call it home. With the weather warming up, it’s hard not to start daydreaming about spreading out your towel on the soft sand and soaking up a little bit of sun (with proper SPF, of course).

Three of my favorite looks from this week all have something in common. They are all great transitional outfits. As much as I hate to say it, summer is in its final stretch and fall is fast approaching. During this time of year, it’s always tricky trying to figure out what to put on– or take off. The weather is as temperamental as a woman with PMS and no M&M’s. The only way to get your look right during this time of year is by layering up.
