Setting the Mood: Double Up On Denim

By |November 26th, 2014|Setting the Mood|

denim on denim fashion editorialIf you live in America, you own a pair of jeans.  For whatever reason, this time of year feels very “Americana” to me.  The only thing I own more of than crop tops is denim.  Once I found a brand and style I liked, I bought it in every available color and/or pattern.  When it comes to cold weather, I start at the bottom (much like Drake), as in my jeans and then build my outfit around them.  This is why I often complain to my friends about having no tops.  But that is neither here nor there, as let’s talk about you and your denim needs.  Whether it’s the perfect pair of jeans, a chambray shirt, or a beaten up jean jacket, be sure to slip into something that feels more American than apple pie.

Setting the Mood: God Bless…

By |July 1st, 2013|Setting the Mood|

fourth of july fashionAt times I may complain that ol’ US of A has gone down the sh…. I feel blessed to live in a country where what I say, do, wear, and think can’t really be censored… well, for the meantime, at least.  I believe Congress is working on that.  Sure there are Kardashians and fast food chains, but for the most part, the United States of America is what so many people dream of, work for, and aspire to be.  Perhaps we should remember where we came from and attempt to become model citizens of the great states of America…again.  Let’s make Abe and George proud.  Bake that apple pie, put on your best red, white, and blue, and celebrate… we’re Americans, ya’ll.

Setting the Mood: There Will Be Fireworks

By |July 2nd, 2012|Setting the Mood|

fireworks flags happy 4thEver pick up the newspaper…. who am I kidding, who reads newspapers.  Ever look at your Twitter newsfeed and after scanning the headlines think to yourself, “Dang it, I’m pretty psyched to be an American.”?  Yeah, I think that sometimes too.  Other times, I’m ready to flee the country, but today isn’t going to be one of those days.  Today we are going to celebrate and channel all that is fabulous about the good ol’ U S of A… and find ways to wear it.  That’s right, we are doing all things stars, stripes, blue, red, and white.

celebrities wearing flagsBack around Memorial Day, the trend of sporting patriotic style made its debut and seems that since then, being proud to be an American only became that much more on trend.  Well, as it turns out, this week we commemorate our great country’s independence and I really can’t think of a better time to get your patriotism on.

Setting the Mood: American as Apple Pie

By |May 28th, 2012|Setting the Mood|

god bless america I know I may complain a bit (who me?) and threaten to run off to the south of France from time to time, but the fact is, we do live in a truly great country.  We’re free to do what we please- whether that be speak our minds or watch as much Real Housewives as our brains can tolerate.  Clearly, seeing as there is an entire market dedicated to apparel smattered with our American flag, I am not alone in my love of the land of the free.    So, let’s try and remember why we’ve been awarded the freedoms that we have and wear our flags oh so proudly.
