We’ve stacked bangles up to our elbows.  We’ve found new knuckles for the purpose of piling on rings.  We’ve even layered necklaces that rival Mr. T, but what about our ears? Have our poor little lobes been overlooked?  For a while it was all about hoops- from tiny spheres to doorknockers.  Then we moved on to chandeliers that threatened to ruin our posture with their sheer weight.  As of late, it seems there’s been no real trend except that of simplicity.  I stick to standard studs, the only type of studs in my life, unless we’re talking about wall hangings.  Recently, the ear has become a place of embellishment with elaborate ear cuffs, sterling silver hoop earrings and double sided earrings.  This look is fantastic for holiday updos or for a seriously side swept side part.  Keep the rest of your accessories fairly understated and ironically let your ears do all the talking.

As we just experienced and as Gothamist has proclaimed, say goodbye to warm weather… forever (or at least for the next five months).  While we can’t prevent winter from coming or imminent misuse of leggings that accompanies it, you can use my comprehensive guide to coats in order to keep yourself from landing a nasty case of frostbite or the flu.  As always there are the ever functional bubble jackets which used to look more like portable sleeping bags, but fortunately, fashion meets function in this year’s iterations.  In addition to functional, there are some fun additions like oversized robe coats, capes, and very hairy options.  I tend to gravitate to the oversized fluffy white fur coats of this season and I doubt it has anything to do with Smitty or my actual belief that I am, in fact, his birth mother.  Whatever coat (or coats) you choose to wear this winter, remember to try and stay warm and keep in mind spring will soon be on its way.
