Why Did You Wear That: I Would Like To Extend to You an Invitation to The Pants Party.

Remember back when I invited you to the Pants Party? Well, you knew I was going to RSVP “YES” to my own party. Duh. So, I found a pair of pretty awesome floral jeans at Zara (that were only $60!) and paired them with one of my favorite slouchy Kain tanks so as not to look too prissy, pretty, pretty princess-like. (I don’t like to blow my cover too early). This outfit is perfect for hanging out casually or could be a great date outfit with some strappy heels and shiny accessories. I opted to lounge in the sunshine and slip my shoes off. I “topped” it off with a big ol’ top knot.

Why Did You Wear That: Bus Stop Blues

We’ve all been there. You know, enjoying the nightlife a little too much and having to face the consequences when the sun rises. In college we called them “shackers.” There’s nothing worse than having to evacuate the scene of the crime in last night’s LBD, stilettos, and authentic bed head. The walk of shame doesn’t have to be so shameful though. Keeping a pair of sunglasses in your bag and using a little imagination can keep you from looking like Pretty Woman when the morning comes. Borrowing a simple button down shirt and belt can create a super chic shirtdress in no time flat and no one will be the wiser. (Own that big hair though, girl).

Why Did You Wear That: For the Birds

Everyday around the same time, a flock of birds shows up at this little bird bath. I’m not talking like one or two. I am talking about ten to twenty at a time. It’s like birds gone wild at spring beak (too many fowl puns?). Something about this little bird bath seemed very French to me. I’m not sure why. Do they even have birds (les oiseaux) in France? Doesn’t matter. It seemed like a perfect place to put on one of my favorite knit dresses with wedge booties and beret and channel my inner French girl. While it’s been abnormally warm, the air does start to chill when the sun goes down. That’s why it’s imperative to always have a jacket and scarf on hand. Cherry nails and lips are the perfect accents for an all black and white ensemble.

Why Did You Wear That: Urban Art

A couple of weekends ago while down in LA we went on a hunt for some of the remaining graffiti covered walls. I don’t mean like your random spraypaint tag. I wanted big colorful murals reminiscent of Paula Abdul’s Opposites Attract (um, hello MC Skat!). Much of Los Angeles’ “donated” artwork has been cleaned up by the city, but there is a little spot in Hollywood that is so boldly decorated, that you really can’t miss it. For an afternoon adventure, I put on a pair of my (current) favorite skinny cropped 7’s, a sheer T-shirt and a pair of oxfords- which, to me, are the alternative to an ultra classic and somewhat girly ballet flat. I accessorized with my gold go to jewelry and was comfortable all day. Just another example that art is all around us… so long as you’re looking. you will get more art related info here. Why Did You Wear That: No Grey Area

For those who don’t know me, it may seem strange that my favorite colors are black and white (since black and white aren’t technically considered “colors”). Much like I try to live my life, I also like my palette to be very black and white. I do love color very much, but there is something so crisp, so clean, and so refreshing about bold black and white patterns. Whether it be stripes, dots, florals, geometric shapes, or just something totally abstract, I can’t get enough of these opposite shades. From my clothing, to our home decor, black and white rule my world. The best part of using black and white as your base? The ability to punch it up with just about any color as an accent.

I don’t want to tell Smitty, but he falls under this color scheme and it’s quite possible why I love him even more. His soft white fluffy fur set off by those big black eyes and little black dot of a nose make him absolutely perfect. He is my best accessory afterall.
