How To Tuesday: Hop, Hop, Hop.

lace bunny earsBefore my nickname was “Turtle” it was Kiki B- B first standing for Bendel, later for bunny.  Not sure if the second iteration has more to do with me actually looking like a rabbit or my proclivity for falling down hypothetical rabbit holes.  In any case, I once required guests at my birthday party to parade around downtown in darling little bunny ears.  Birthdays are great excuses for props… as are brunches.  And wouldn’t you know, Easter is coming up and that’s prime brunching time.  What better way to add a little fun to your Easter brunch than with some stylish lace bunny ears for you and your guests?

Pro tip: You can also create lace cat ears with the same technique (which I made for my special video guest, Bud).

How To Tuesday: Who Wears Short Shorts?

DIY denim cut offsIt makes sense that this week’s episode is focused on creating the perfect “Daisy Duke” worthy denim cut offs.  A great pair of denim cut off shorts say “summer” like nothing else can.  They’re great for a casual day by the pool or running errands and can be dressed up with sexy heels and a silky top for a balmy night out on the town.  It may be tempting to just plop down the plastic and splurge on designer denim, but why not make yourself a custom (and less expensive) DIY version instead?  It’s much easier than you may think and you won’t be caught wearing the same ol’ same as everyone else.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Recycle!  This is a perfect way to utilize your old jeans that are just taking up space in your closet.
  • DO NOT cut the legs off straight across (this will lead to a very “cheeky” situation).
  • Leave an extra inch of fabric.  You can always go shorter!
  • Be creative.  Let your imagination run wild!  There are tons of different ways to embellish your shorts.
  • If you don’t have time to run ‘em through the wash, use a zester and seam ripper to get the fringe going.

How To Tuesday: Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire

There is really nothing sexier than a smoldering smokey eye.  Every celebrity from Kim Kardashian to Taylor Swift to have been seen sporting this makeup trend.  As good as a smokey eye looks, it can prove to be a bit daunting to the untrained individual and without the proper equipment can go very, terribly wrong.  Rather than looking like a sex kitten, you may look more like a rabid raccoon. Have no fear, it is much easier than one would think and WhyDid is here to help.

What you’ll need:

  • loose translucent powder
  • light shimmer shadow
  • medium shadow (for blending)
  • very dark shadow (for outlining)
  • kohl eyeliner
  • black mascara
  • blending brush
  • sponge eyeshadow applicator

Smokin’ hot.
