Why Did You Wear That: ShopBop / East Dane Friends and Family Sale

By |October 15th, 2014|Why Did You Wear That?|

new york city couple fallIt is officially what they call “cuffing season” (you can read about what that is here since apparently it hasn’t gone mainstream like pumpkin spice lattés).  Basically, it’s time to nest and get cozy with some kind of significant other, although last Saturday when the rain was coming down, there was a Meg Ryan movie marathon, and I conveniently had a bottle of Malbec, I asked myself, “Would you rather have your best friend to curl up with or a boyfriend?”  You can guess the answer.

In any case, fall is the perfect time to participate in nauseatingly adorable couple behavior fit for Instagram like apple picking and visiting the pumpkin patch.  Such occasions call for cozy sweaters, lived in denim, and the cutest boots.  Turns out, it’s your lucky day(s) as ShopBop and EastDane‘s Friends and Family sales are in full swing.  Take twenty-five percent off of your purchase with the code “Family25.”  So stock up now and get ready to couple up.  The only thing, however, I will be cuffing myself to is a large pizza and Sleepless in Seattle.

Why Did You Wear That: Bloggers for BCA

By |October 8th, 2014|Why Did You Wear That?|

bloggers for bcaOctober is not only the beginning of fall, pumpkin carving, and apple picking, it is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women and the number one most diagnosed type of cancer in women.  Over 220,000 women and 2,150 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer each year- that’s one in eight women, some of them even need HCA from https://homecareassistance.com/charleston/.  40,000 of those women will die.  It’s not all bad news though.  Since 1990, the death rate has been declining most likely attributed to early detection, awareness, and better treatments.

Many of us have been or will be affected by breast cancer at some point in our lifetime and so it is important to get involved now.  While there are many ways to lend a hand, Accessory Concierge has come up with a pretty easy (and fun) way to get started.

breast cancer month accessory conciergeFight Like a Girl cuff, Tough As Nails necklace

Accessory Concierge is donating 20% of all proceeds from the sale of the “Fight Like a Girl” cuff, “Here Comes a Fighter” cuff, and “Tough As Nails” necklace to the Breast Cancer Fund.  Show your support for those fighting the fight by purchasing these for yourself or someone you love and be sure to help spread awareness using the #ToughAsNails and #BloggersforBCA hashtags as well.

Why Did You Wear That: Shoe In

By |October 2nd, 2014|Why Did You Wear That?|

best fall bootsOnce you’ve procured all of this fall’s must have fashion trends, you’re going to need the shoes to accessorize with.  One of my greatest struggles in life besides fitted sheets and the mental battle between being rail thin or indulging in gnocchi, is putting together the perfect outfit only to realize I do not have the perfect shoes to complete it.  This has led to lots of late arrivals, pissed off friends, and missed appointments.  Pretty sure this complaint would fall under the hashtag of “first world problems.”  In any case, this fall you are going to want to round out your wardrobe with boyish brogues, combat boots, boots that go beyond the knee, statement booties in addition to basic black, and a pair of sneakers that thank heaven almighty do not include the word “wedge.”  Below find my picks for fall’s best footwear.

Why Did You Wear That: F*ck It. We’re Done with Pants.

By |October 2nd, 2014|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

celebrity sheer dressesCelebrities just can’t seem to keep their pants on and this time it doesn’t involve hacked photos, the  iCloud, or Miley Cyrus.  This past week alone, a slew of celebrities have forgone covering up their bits and pieces by wearing barely there ensembles leaving very little to the imagination.  From Miranda Kerr to Cara Delevigne, sheer panels gave us peeks at their toned thighs, tummies, and places Pilates pays off.  Even North West got in on the action while accompanying mom, Kim, to the Givenchy show in Paris.  Why shouldn’t a toddler have a custom creation when sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week?  Step your game up Gymboree.  This nearly nude trend is nothing new though, as we saw here on Erin Fetherston two Octobers ago.

kim kardashian givenchyBut before you figure me for head conductor of the Hater Express, let us take a moment to recall when I wore this For Love & Lemons dress sans pants last winter.  Brrr.  While, part of me fears for humanity’s eyesight as we all know that once something is worn by a Kardashian, it’s basically considered mainstream and one can expect to see it in every mall in America, there are some upsides to this trend.  One such silver lining is an opportunity to showcase those Barry’s Bootcamp legs you shelled out $30 a pop for.  Another, of course, is good ventilation, which we all know aids in the prevention of the epidemic known as thigh chafing.  Lastly, pants are just a hassle anyway.  The first thing I do when I get home is remove them, so let’s just cut out the middle man and stop wearing pants all together. F*ck it.
