Why Did You Wear That: Double the Pleasure

By |November 16th, 2010|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

I’ve been known to find something I like and purchase it in every color. I think I learned this from my mother… but one can’t really be sure. All I do know, is that when you find something fabulous, there’s no harm in doubling up. Check out these sultry silhouettes that come in several shades then stock up!

Why Did You Wear That: The Long and Short of It

By |November 9th, 2010|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

It’s getting cold out there and as  much as I love a teeny tiny skirt and boots, I’m really loving this maxi skirt trend that hit the runways.  Talk about an total alternative to leggings! Pull on a long skirt with a cute top or sweater (layer tights underneath for extra warmth) and you are not only looking totally in style and up to date, but also completely comfortable and chic. Some maxi skirts to try:

Rick Owens Lilies Jersey Maxi Skirt, $695

Richard Chai Love Tube Skirt, $265

Rachel Pally Ribbed Long Full Skirt, $185

LnA Column Skirt, $99

Anthropologie Tumbler Maxi Skirt, $78

Sparkle and Fade Long Knit Skirt, $49

Why Did You Wear That: Better Than Leggings

By |November 2nd, 2010|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

So it occurred to me this past weekend while I dressed for brunch that I wanted to wear something comfortable without looking like I was wearing my pajamas and without wearing… gasp… a Juicy tracksuit. Most would automatically jump right to leggings. A lot of the time I would too, but it seems that some of you out there can not be trusted.

You guys KNOW how I feel about leggings. Namely, leggings worn as pants. I’ve gone over this time and time again, but alas, it seems that the message just does not compute. So, I have come up with a crop of pants that are not only comfy, but also attractive (minus the cameltoe):

Stella McCartney Cashmere Silk Blend Jumpsuit, $1425

Robert Rodriquez Roll Waist Pants, $264

Clu Ruffled Waist Pants, $225

Knit Wit Harem Pants, $220

T by Alexander Wang Jersey Cropped Sweat Pants, $120

C & C California Twisted Drawstring Pants, $78

Forever 21 French Terry Athletic Pants, $17.80

Hey… they’re better than leggings.

Why Did You Wear That: Thigh High

By |October 28th, 2010|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

When you think of thigh high boots, your first thought may be that of Julia Roberts a la Pretty Woman, but that’s a bit narrow minded, my friend. When not constructed of man made material, over the knee boots are quite sexy, yet still very chic. Pair them with your favorite pants or a flowy dress and you are going to be the prettiest woman in the room.

Christian Louboutin Gazolina 140 Suede Over the Knee Boots, $2,101

Sergio Rossi Suede Over the Knee Boots, $1,400

Sigerson Morrison Long Cuff Over the Knee Boots, $995

Sam Edelman Sutton Black Suede Over the Knee Boots, $225

Kelsi Dagger Briallen Leather Over the Knee Boots, $188

Charlotte Russe Over the Knew Faux Suede Boots, $45.50

Why Did You Wear That: Night Rider

By |October 19th, 2010|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

Ever just feel like not getting dressed? You’d rather just stay in your PJ’s and call it a day? Well, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t do just that. I’m not talking about your flannel footed pajamas. I mean beautiful, well made nightgowns, chemises, and playsuits. Why shouldn’t your underwear be as pretty as your outerwear?

Fleur of England Dessert silk georgette babydoll, $225

3.1 Philip Lim Printed silk-satin slip, $250

Double in Brass by The Lake and Stars chiffon strappy slip, $68

Kiki de Montparnasse Cage Slip, $495

Stella McCartney Clara Whispering silk satin chemise, $300

Julianne Sophie dress, $325

Sweet dreams.
