Why Did You Wear That: White Hot

By |January 25th, 2011|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

The weather outside is frightful (unless you live in Los Angeles), but there’s no need to stay curled up inside like a hermit or flip your shit like the abominable snowman.  Take a note from some very stylish celebs.  Wearing white after Labor Day is no longer a fashion faux pas.  Some of the sexiest starlets have been sporting winter white on all of the hottest red carpets.

So, before you reserve yourself to alpaca and shearling for the rest of the winter months, why not try out this winter’s most fiercely feminine color?  Be sure to pick something in a heavier (winter weight) fabric.  If you live somewhere especially frigid, look for long sleeves and pair your look with opaque or patterned tights.  For footwear? Add a dash of color or something shiny!

Why Did You Wear That: Peaches n’ Cream

By |January 18th, 2011|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

I was so excited to see some of my favorite shades on the red carpet this past weekend.  I especially loved the color of the Calvin Klein that Emma Stone wore (despite the fact that I was a bit turned off that her hair and skin matched -monochromatic much?).  Anyway, any good reason to post pictures of amazingly lovely shades of nudes and peach and I’m in.  I really do adore the mix of peach (or sherbert) and nude together especially in a simple sophisticated silhouette.  The trick? Do not physically MATCH the color of your dress!

Why Did You Wear That: Twinkle Toes

By |December 28th, 2010|Why Did You Wear That?|

My grandpa used to call me “Twinkle Toes” and maybe that’s why I have such an affinity for these sparkly shoes.  I believe he called me Twinkle Toes because I was a prima ballerina (in my own mind), but  I have a feeling that nickname has nothing to do with my insatiable thirst for all things shiny. In any case, everywhere you look right now, there are sparkly, shiny, glitter covered shoes and nothing could make me happier (except maybe a 25 foot chandelier).  Check out these shiners sure to catch somebody’s eye:

PS: I haven’t been able to post my own pic in these posts because I’m in the middle of Pennsylvania right now with a suitcase full of cozy cashmere to keep me warm. So, until next week you’ll need to live without my mug.

Why Did You Wear That: You Com-Pleat Me

By |November 23rd, 2010|Celebrity Style, Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

I can’t lie, the lovely Ms. Fox inspired this post. I have had a pair of slouchy pleated pants hanging in my closet for a few months now and every time I put them on, I felt a bit more Ellen Degeneres than Megan Fox. After seeing how hot a pair of simple slacks could look, I was inspired to try again.  A slouchy pleated pant is a great alternative to jeans, leggings, and your regular dress/work slacks. Here are some great pleated options for you to try out as well:

Stella McCartney Pleated Cropped Pants, $595

Bird by Juicy Couture Carrot Silhouette Trousers, $328

Myne Tamara Pants, $210

Something Else by Natalie Wood Slouchy Pleat Front Pants, $117

American Apparel Linen High Waist Pleated Pants, $75

Silence and Noise Pleated Ankle Roll Pant, $58

Charlotte Russe Cropped Pleated Slouchy Pants, $29.50
