Fridays are meant to be casual… as are the weekends. And while we may strap ourselves into the tightest tops, shortest skirts, and highest heels for a night out, I, for one, can not wait to get home and get out of my constricting couture and slip into something much more comfortable. Friday Frocks: Cut It Out

Speaking of cutting things up. Another trend for summer that will most likely carry into fall is that of the cut out dress. Instead of the daring deep V or the slit all the way up to… designers have opted for the unexpected flash of flesh. This look is very specific, so let’s not get carried away with too much ventilation- though the impending heatwave may make it tempting. The look is a peek of skin, not “I was accosted by the cousin of Edward Scissorhands on the way to The Darby.” So embrace the trend, but not too tightly.

Friday Frocks: Ray of White

Along with the official kick off of summer, Memorial Day is also the day that white dresses get the “go ahead” green light (according to some). While white dresses are most often associated with weddings, christenings, and clam bakes, in my book, a Tuesday is as good a day as any to wear a stark white dress. There is just something so fresh, so innocent and dare I say virginal about slipping into a snow toned frock? We’ve already worked up the courage with off white and now it’s go time, ladies. Get out your Tide To Go pens, self tanner, and biggest and brightest smile. Summer’s here and the living is easy.

Why Did You Wear That: Urban Art

A couple of weekends ago while down in LA we went on a hunt for some of the remaining graffiti covered walls. I don’t mean like your random spraypaint tag. I wanted big colorful murals reminiscent of Paula Abdul’s Opposites Attract (um, hello MC Skat!). Much of Los Angeles’ “donated” artwork has been cleaned up by the city, but there is a little spot in Hollywood that is so boldly decorated, that you really can’t miss it. You can also using this Fibre Design website for detailed information about art.

For an afternoon adventure, I put on a pair of my (current) favorite skinny cropped 7’s, a sheer T-shirt and a pair of oxfords- which, to me, are the alternative to an ultra classic and somewhat girly ballet flat. I accessorized with my gold go to jewelry and was comfortable all day. Just another example that art is all around us… so long as you’re looking. you will get more art related info here. Why Did You Wear That: Mad for Plaid

They say what goes around comes around and just like the 80’s, the 90’s are now making a comeback. Whether you’re a product of the 90’s or you just remember the decade fondly, you are probably relieved to be able to revel in a little bit of nostalgia not involving sweatbands and permed hair. A time when grunge music took center stage, so did many of the fashion trends that went along with it. Flannel shirts and shaggy hair were par for the course and while I do not condone actual “grunge,” I love the undone edgy look. I snatched this particular shirt from my mom’s house, so it very well may be from the 90’s, but it probably won’t be too hard to find one of your own.
