Friday Frocks: Cut It Out

Speaking of cutting things up. Another trend for summer that will most likely carry into fall is that of the cut out dress. Instead of the daring deep V or the slit all the way up to… designers have opted for the unexpected flash of flesh. This look is very specific, so let’s not get carried away with too much ventilation- though the impending heatwave may make it tempting. The look is a peek of skin, not “I was accosted by the cousin of Edward Scissorhands on the way to The Darby.” So embrace the trend, but not too tightly.

Friday Frocks: Born To Be Wild

I look forward to Friday for oh so many reasons and I get the feeling I’m not alone. One of those reasons is the prospect of letting my hair down, slipping out of something standard, and perhaps getting a little bit wild. What better way to let people know you are serious about having fun than sporting a little something borrowed from our friends in the animal kingdom?

In case you haven’t noticed, leopard and animal prints aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. In my opinion, leopard print is a new neutral. If you tire of the standard “as seen in nature” prints, opt for a recolored print.

It’s getting cold out there and as much as I love a teeny tiny skirt and boots, I’m really loving this maxi skirt trend that hit the runways. Talk about an total alternative to leggings! Pull on a long skirt with a cute top or sweater (layer tights underneath for extra warmth) and you are not only looking totally in style and up to date, but also completely comfortable and chic.
