Beauty Buzz: Brow Down

Long gone are the days of over tweezed and drawn on eyebrows. The full brow is back and better than ever as seen on the Spring 2012 runways. Everyone from Naeem Khan to Derek Lam channeled their Brooke Shields a la The Blue Lagoon. In seasons past, the bleached brow had made an appearance, but this spring, it’s all about the statement making power brow.

I suffer from having fairly light and fairly thin eyebrows naturally, so I have to fill them in just to make ’em look normal using Tarte’s EmphasEYES brow pencil in Taupe on a day to day basis. Rosie Huntington Whitely swears by Laura Mercier’s Brow Powder. It’s time to find your power tool for banging brows. The look is full, groomed, and face framing. It is also important to find the right shape for your face as well. I have found that just having a groomed brow makes me immediately appear more polished and adds an extra impact to my eyes.

Why Did You Wear That: Urban Art

A couple of weekends ago while down in LA we went on a hunt for some of the remaining graffiti covered walls. I don’t mean like your random spraypaint tag. I wanted big colorful murals reminiscent of Paula Abdul’s Opposites Attract (um, hello MC Skat!). Much of Los Angeles’ “donated” artwork has been cleaned up by the city, but there is a little spot in Hollywood that is so boldly decorated, that you really can’t miss it. For an afternoon adventure, I put on a pair of my (current) favorite skinny cropped 7’s, a sheer T-shirt and a pair of oxfords- which, to me, are the alternative to an ultra classic and somewhat girly ballet flat. Why Did You Wear That: Destination Unknown

Today I was told to pack a suitcase. No, not like the, “Get out of my house and get to steppin’ you, crazy bitch!” kind of suitcase. More of the romantic surprise getaway and I’m not telling you wheeeeere suitcase. See, tomorrow is my beloved and my anniversary. I know. I found myself a true Romeo (no, seriously, he’s a dream come true). I have no idea where we’re headed, but wait til he gets a load of his gift. (That’s what you get for marrying a writer, honey). Anyway, I’m not that great at packing to begin with, so throwing me a curveball like this makes stuffing my suitcase that much more difficult.

Since I know you ladies are just as lovely, I don’t doubt that something like this will also happen to you. So, to help you out, I’ve figured out how to pack for a destination unknown. The key is versatility. Pack things that can be both dressed up and dressed down. Be sure to tuck a pair of flats (or comfortable shoes) along with some sexy stilettos in your bag. To jazz up your daytime attire, be sure to bring your bling. Accessories are crucial in taking any outfit from casual to cosmopolitan.
