Friday Frocks: Nifty for Fifty

By |July 22nd, 2011|Friday Frocks|

While summer is now in full swing, there are really only a handful of beach days and summer Fridays left.  (Although it was pointed out to me today that summer officially ends on September 22).  You’ve probably done most of your summer shopping in advance but, there’s still the possibility of a hot (both literally and figuratively) date or rooftop cocktail party to attend before September rolls around.  In the off chance that you’ve exceeded your seasonal budget, I’ve rounded up some summer friendly frocks that are also friendly on the wallet.  Now you can enjoy the rest of the warm weather without feeling guilty about going into credit card debt (never in style- ever). Behold: 10 dresses all under $50:

1. ModCloth Saturday Night Dress, $42.99, 2. Forever21 Ditsy Floral Chiffon Dress, $19.80, 3. Bisou Bisou Scoopneck All Over Pleat Dress, $31.99, 4. Matthew Williamson Sleeveless Halter Romper, $27.99, 5. Free People Animal Knit Bodycon Dress, $49.95, 6. Victoria’s Secret Off the Shoulder Print Tee Dress, $29.50, 7. Arden B. Gauze Ruffle Tube Dress, $49, 8. Kimchi Blue Ruffle Sleeve Dress, $49, 9. Guess Lori Dress, $49.95, 10. Forever21 Sweetheart Lace Dress, $22.80

Look for Less: Gossip Folks

By |April 21st, 2009|Look for Less, Why Did You Wear That?|

I’ve watched lots of these shows where they attempt to  “recreate” designer outfits for less, but I get SO annoyed because they are never even close to the original. I mean, I get SO mad that sometimes I must be restrained from chucking the TV out the window. It gets my blood boiling that these people are getting paid for not even coming close. Kind of like being a weather girl.

That’s where I come in. I pride myself on being really good at this. Add it to my special “skills” on my resume. Anyhow, after a juicy episode of Gossip Girl, I was inspired by the lovely ladies to recreate their sizzling style. Whether you’re a Serena or a Blair, I’ve got you covered!

And there you have it. Now you can look like your own Gossip Girl. I think I’m on team Serena… that could have something to do with the blonde hair and our shared love of maltipoos.  Either way, send in any outfits you would like me to “recreate” for you.

Why Did You Wear That: Get Sprung- Spring Did.

By |March 26th, 2009|Why Did You Wear That?|

Spring is officially here, so it’s time to overhaul your closets.  Time to toss the sweaters and leggings (thank god) and get ready to show some skin.  It’s time to stimulate our economy (it’s called being proactive).  So what if Obama’s trying to take back everyone’s bonuses?  Might as well look cute in the poorhouse.

  • Leather jacket- Wear it with jeans and a tank or over a long maxi dress. Works with both and gives you an easy “I didn’t try too hard” look. (Don’t worry, if you’re feeling timid, you don’t have to go with black. Try a shade of grey or tan).

  • Body Con dress- What have you been going to the gym for?  Shed off those extra layers and show off your toned bod.

Why Did You Wear That: Give me… Givenchy!

By |December 2nd, 2008|Look for Less, Why Did You Wear That?|

Givenchy’s Fall 2008 runway show was enough to make the biggest wallflower want to get up on a table and break a guitar. It was chocked full of leather, chains, lace, and edge.  The overall theme was rocker chic. Below are three of my favorite looks and how you can get them.

A look from Givenchy’s Fall 2008 runway show. This look is sexy yet tough.

Blouse from Forever21, $22.80

Blank shiny PANT at Urban Outfitters, $68

(My favorite part about these is that they are actual PANTS- with pockets and fly!)

Steve Madden, Clubbin Bootie, $129.95
