Why Did You Wear That: Jump On It

By |July 19th, 2011|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

There she is.  The romper’s big sister, the jumpsuit.  Let it be known, I love a good romper, but sometimes, a girl needs a little variety.  That’s where the jumpsuit comes in.  While the romper is considered to be quite casual, a jumpsuit can easily be accessorized into a striking evening option.

Some good things about jumpsuits:

  • It’s one stop dressing!  Your top and your pants are connected!
  • Wearing a jumpsuit is kind of like wearing adult onesie pajamas.
  • It’s no coincidence that when I try to type jumpsuit, I keep typing “humpsuit.”

Some less than good things about jumpsuits:

  • Probably not going to attract too many fellas with your new jumpsuit induced FUPA.
  • Awkward moments in the bathroom.

Ready to “jump” on this trend?  I like to go all 80’s when accessorizing this trend.  Deep side part, pearl accessories, and shimmery makeup.  Depending on the type of jumpsuit, you could do both heels or flats (though I might point out you already look like a jerk- probably best to stick with heels).  Remember to allot extra time for the restroom and you’re good to go.

Friday Frocks: Pretty in Pink

By |June 10th, 2011|Friday Frocks|

This week’s Friday Frocks is brought to you by the color “pink.”  While perusing the world wide web… taking one of my mini mental vacations, I stumbled upon what may, in fact, be the greatest place on earth.  No, I’m not talking about Disney World, kiddos.  I’m talking about the “Pink Palace of the Pacific,” the Royal Hawaiian.  I know what you’re thinking.  This can’t be true!  How can a place so magical possibly exist?  Does this mean unicorns are real too?

Well, I’m not sure about unicorns, but this beautiful rosy resort is no myth.  Gazing upon this shrine to every girly girl’s favorite color got me to thinking about what one would wear while lounging poolside at the Pink Palace.  Couldn’t be anything but pink, right?

Friday Frocks: Yeah Baby!

By |March 11th, 2011|Friday Frocks, Why Did You Wear That?|

It’s no secret that the runways have been channeling the swinging seventies and we’ve seen that flares are making a re-emergence.  With spring just around the corner, what better way to get into the spirit than with a flowy patterned frock?  I’m not talking about fembots and shooting bullets out of your brassiere.  I’m talking about flowing fabrics in psychedelic prints.

Why Did You Wear That: White Hot

By |January 25th, 2011|Celebrity Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

The weather outside is frightful (unless you live in Los Angeles), but there’s no need to stay curled up inside like a hermit or flip your shit like the abominable snowman.  Take a note from some very stylish celebs.  Wearing white after Labor Day is no longer a fashion faux pas.  Some of the sexiest starlets have been sporting winter white on all of the hottest red carpets.

So, before you reserve yourself to alpaca and shearling for the rest of the winter months, why not try out this winter’s most fiercely feminine color?  Be sure to pick something in a heavier (winter weight) fabric.  If you live somewhere especially frigid, look for long sleeves and pair your look with opaque or patterned tights.  For footwear? Add a dash of color or something shiny!

Top (L to R): Alexander Wang Ribbed Tank Dress, $545, Halston Heritage Short Dress, $490, Milly Sleeveless Jewel Neck Dress, $355, Reiss Nanette Zip Frill Dress, $310

Bottom (L to R): Indah Macrame Back Mini Dress, $154, Acne Dolphin Draped Silk Wrap Dress, $660, Lauren by Ralph Lauren Carrie Boatneck Dress, $129, Religion 3/4 Length Dress, $98

Frosty!

Why Did You Wear That: Green With Envy

By |December 7th, 2010|Personal Style, Why Did You Wear That?|

This time of year, most people think of red for holiday dressing. Well, I say, why not go against the grain?  Who wants to blend into the crowd when you can lead the pack? Rather than going with the obvious crimson dress, seek out something green.  Green is actually much more flattering and easier to wear for all skin tones. Whether you go evergreen or army, going green is sure to leave them envious.
